Pink Tower

The Pink Tower

The Pink Tower was developed by Maria Montessori to help children
learn early mathematical skills. When being directed by the Teacher,
the child will learn mathematical language such as:

big, small, bigger than, smaller than, biggest, smallest,
long, longest, short, shortest, wide, narrow, widest, most narrow,
little, large, largest.

The smallest cube will fit into the largest cube placed at the bottom of the
tower (100) times. Therefore it is 100th the size of the largest cube.

Each cube is smaller than the other by the width of the smallest cube,
so children can draw the small cube around each cube as it is built on
to the Tower.
The Tower can also be built on its side along the carpet.

The cubest can be placed centrally or to the side (meeting at the corner)
of they can be placed in a twisted fashion on top of each other

Children know they have made a mistake building the Tower if the
Tower collapses.

Montessori Learning is holistic learning an 'all round' education
for your child.

Maria Montessori understood the child to a degree that she could
recognise the World of the inner Child. Her materials to help
children learn independently are still in use today and there are
many Montessori Schools worldwide who still teach in an holistic
fashion encouraged by her. Children learn better whenthey learn
independently and the Montessori method of education is a realistic
and contemporary method which teaches the whole person, the
whole child, encouraging them to learn emotionally, spiritually,
physically as well as to learn to be aware of their surroundings and
to have a deep respect for their surroundings and their environment.

The method instils a love of learning within the child and an
enthusiasm which is never really extinguished.

In a Montessori environment chidlren learn how to behave
appropriately, how to respect each other, how to respect their
environment, they learn a sense of order
which is inherent in them from an early age. They look after each
other and sympathise with each other.

This method of education is fantastic!
